Complacency-The Silent Killer

Complacency like smoking is a silent killer. It can permeate, yes
penetrate every fiber of our thinking the same way tobacco smoke
can turn a fresh smelling garment into a foul smelling one leaving a
dingy residue upon it's outer shell.
Complacency's tongue speaks from the mouths of well-meaning
family members, friends and work associates who have accepted
their lot in this lot as if some god preordained it. They hide their own
complacency inside of curt expressions such as: it's a rich man
world, it doesn't matter what I try, things will always be the same or
the big one "If it's the Lord's will for me, then it will be."
Were not most of us created with a reasonable degree of intelligence
and the freedom to make decisions for ourselves?
Sure, for period of time known as our childhood, our mental,
emotional, physical and spiritual development along with our ability
to choose our own way was dependent upon our caregivers however
as we grew older the responsibility of choice became our own, did it
not?
That being said, our choosing to be sedimentary,complacent-like
some pebble on the mountain of mankind waiting the for a proverbial
earthquake to move us, is something we alone may or may not
choose to do.
Our choice to change our position in the global family may cost us
some of our close family members, friends and well-meaning work
associates who doesn't see complacency as a silent killer but as the
cards life has dealt them.
Remember please that in the game of poker, it's not always the player
with the best hand who wins, it is sometimes the one who bluffs the
other players.
The player who is convinced that he not the cards control his destiny.
From time to time, we all succumb to complacency but because we
are confident in ourselves and our belief system, we are not killed by
it's smoke.
